HAVANA CLUB - 15 Year Old Gran Reserva
Has any one here had the pleasure of trying this rum? At Ј150 a bottle it is a little out of my league at the moment.
I would be very interested in the views of anyone who has sampled it, and whether they think it is worth that money and getting a bottle.
I don't mind forking out that money if it is worth it, but would be agreived if it were not much superior to a Ј50 bottle - as would my girlfriend!

Love it to bits but usually get mine in Cuba to save money Much more mellow and sweeter, imho, than the younger HC's. If you feel the need to try some Ed and you ever get down to Cornwall give me a shout and I'll sort out a tasting for you

First, I'd look for it via Germany where the Euro is used. Not that it isn't still expensive but last I looked (quite some ways back) the German market had more favorable pricing.
HC15 has it's place, but honestly it's a bit hot by my palate - especially when considering the price. I find it somewhat peppery in its heat - which again is nice if that's what you want. Sort of like those of you familiar with single malts might find Talisker a tad bit peppery - it's a great malt but if you absolutely aren't in the mood for a seasoned island dram - reaching for Talisker, could prove a mistake.
For intense Cuban ron, I like the "Club-fitz" but as far as 'smooth' - it isn't exactly - not by my own experiences at least.

One of the german netshops price it 195.90 euros. The same shop also suggests Ron Varadero 15 year as a good cheaper alternative (67.90Ђ).
