Cool Re-registered

I registered a small limited company with you...Tradewind Food Imports Ltd. As it seems this website is quite a sociable place I thought it better register on a more personal basis.

Cheers!cheers.

Default Rum and American History

I am a study-er (not really qualified as a "student") of American spirits.
My studies of the history of bourbon and rye whiskey inevitably brought me to rum.
And that brought me to Ed Hamilton.
And the Caribbean.
And Tiki.
And OH SO MUCH MORE!

Default Mark Roy Intro

I am a full time bartender for a Hilton flag property as well as an assignment bartender for an elite NYC caterer.

I began my adventure with spirits in the 1960's when my parents owned a small restaurant. I learned the craft watching Jimmy McMartin craft cocktails in the style of the 30's and 40's when he was trained. Before the days of premixers. He would fresh squeeze juice, make his own syrups and present his work as would a Chef de Cuisine.

In my mid-50's now, I continue to expand my knowledge of the craft and the wonderful variety of spirits available to us with which to work. Though I'm still a bit confused about flavored Vodka's???

But then, this is a Rum forum .. so who cares about Vodkas!!!

Default New guy from Denmark

Hello guys

I am Danish, and I love both beer and rum. I found this forum searching for information about rum from A.H. Riise, as I have bought 2 rums from this compagny. One claims to be a version of the Navy Rum of the Danish Marine before 1917 (when we still owned the Virgin Islands). My guess is, that the compagny either is a subsiday of Cruzan, or they get their rum produces by Cruzan.

Greetings

Default Canadian living in Cambodia

Hello all,

I am 51 years old have always liked rum. I have been travelling around for the past seven years waiting for my divorce to finish. I have been in cambodia for the past 3 years. Sugar cane is a main product of the area surrounding my girlfriends village where i spend a lot of time. Due to the fact that there are very few restrictions concerning distilling spirits and the ready supply of sugar cane here I intend to take advantage of the situation and make my own rum. I have some experience making beer and also distilling moonshine. I am here to learn my friends.
