Default Havana Club

I Have A Bottle Of Rum That I Brought Back From Cuba When I Went Back In 1999. Its Labeled Blanco Not Anejo Blanco. I Was Wondering If Its A Old Label Or A Different Type Of Rum They Dont Make Anymore. I Would Greatly Appreciate Any Information Regarding This Bottle. Thanks

If You Need Some Pics I Can Post Some For You

Welcome to the forum, dr408! Does it mention "Dry Silver"? If so, it is discontinued, at least, for foreign markets. I've seen the HC Blanco for sale in Mexico up until around 2005. I don't go there as much, now. The new line up on the HC website cites the Blanco Anejo as the youngest rum. But, once again, that is not a definitive listing. There are always "domestic only" versions of products and region specific releases, too.

Interesting. The one we have here is the anejo blanco.

I wouldnt mind knowing more about this one, what the taste difference is for example.

That's the one which I've seen in Mexico. There was one which specified "Silver Dry" on the neck label. I know that it's gone. Perhaps, this one, too. It's no longer being promoted on the HC website. But, there could very well be production for local market or some other regional market. From my memory, it tasted exactly the same as the Silver Dry which I still have. Not in the same league as the Blanco or, even better, the 3 Anos. Still it pretty good in a daiquiri!

XxMerlinxX & dr408, I just had to revisit my Havana Club Blanco and compare it to the HC Silver Dry from a few minis which I had. They are very close, but the Blanco has a tad of flavor while the Silver Dry is a completely neutral spirit. I have never had a vodka which is as smooth as the Silver Dry, though. The Blanco is as smooth as silk with the slightest hint of fruit. No burn, no ill tasting remants in the aftertaste. The summer is almost over. So, I mixed a daiquiri. It was a Hemingway and the Maraschino liqueur, lime and grapefruit literally sang to me. OK, I'm going overboard... WOW, I'm going to have another!
