Default Hello, Rum Lovers

I've been a Rum lover for more years than I care to remember, but I love cocktails in general. I have enjoyed drinking Rum cocktails since my early twenties, when I developed an unfortunate taste for Zombies , but I later drifted away from heavy consumption in the interest of my health, concentrating instead on more pedestrian drinks like Rum and Coke (always with lime) and beer and wine. Languorous vacations in Hawaii gave me a taste for the ubiquitous Mai Tais and Pina Coladas, which were easy to mix in my vacation condo (and when I got back home). After a few good martinis one evening, and one thing leading to another, I started stirring and shaking my own craft cocktails, but I still love Rum. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and have two blogs, one on and the other as the Utah Mixologist.

I'm not into expensive Rums. I try to find good values: nice Rums that aren't too expensive. One of my favorites is Gosling's Black seal, and I do enjoy a Dark & Stormy from time to time.

Welcome to the forums, UtahMixologist. I see that you don't like expensive rums. I don't like them either, for the most part. But rum is the most under-valued of all the distilled spirits and expensive is in the wallet of the customer.

I'm confident that your time on the Ministry of Rum site will yield even more value to your cocktail repertoire.

When I dream up a better job, I'm going to take it. In the meantime, the research continues.
