Default A big Howdy to Y'all from the Heart of Texas!!

Hi Everyone,

Although I am a native Texan, I don't normally speak with a "Southern" accent as this thread's title implies. My ancestors actually lived in this region long before Texas (or even Mexico) existed - they held one of the old Spanish land grants and as I understand it, were originally of minor nobility in imperial Spain who were considered rabble rousers & a political threat, and so were banished to wilderness of the New World by the King's court. This feels true to me, as I have inherited a stubborn independent streak, which often puts me at odds with authority and social "norms", etc.

My interest in rum began long ago, although I hadn't done much to learn more about it until recently. My current favorite (I'm sipping on it now) is Zaya 12 yr. old Gran Reserva, which many of you know is now being bottled in Trinidad, but formerly was from Guatemala. Yumm! As we speak, I am also eagerly awaiting the BCS national college (North American) football championship game tomorrow night 07 Jan. 2010, supporting the great Longhorns team of my alma mater (#2-rated "The UNIVERSE of Texas at Austin" - as we jokingly refer to it) playing against #1 rated Univ. of Alabama Crimson Tide.

Cheers to all in this Community!
