Default A great ship is in town

Have any of you heard about the Swedish wooden 1700 century replica ship Gotheburg? she sailed to China 2005 – 2007 and came to Stockholm today..unfortunately i was at work when she came.

I saw the ship last year when she left Stockholm for Gotheburg, and then from there her China journey, and to see this ship was fantastic!
I never went aboard then as there were thousands of people there to say farewell. I have regretted that for a whole year so now this weekend (she will stay here for one week) i went aboard that ship and the she is really something to behold..

Many interesting things to see aboard as well, everything is made to exact replica of the old ship and most of the modern things are very skillfully integrated so you barely notice them.

We spoke to a few of the crew who told us about the journey they made to China and about life aboard, it was really interesting…

Here is a link to see some pics of this ship and to read the story of the original 1700 Gothenburg who sank, and todays replica:

Check the links PICTURES Port Elisabeth and PICTURES Canton 2006 at the lower left side of the page.

There are pics i took today on my flickr page, where you can see the pics i took today of the ship, other boats and Stockholm and then at pic of me hugging a old rum (?) barrel.:

And after this day with a lot of walking and talking i need a cocktail..
A Mai Tai a day.....Mai Tai roa ae!

I'm glad to see this ship built and sailing, even with an engine and electronics the sea, and rocks, aren't very forgiving. I look forward to seeing this ship somewhere on its next voyage.

When I dream up a better job, I'm going to take it. In the meantime, the research continues.
