Hi all. I recently found this site after searching for info on different rums that I have had and looking to try others.
I will be honest and say that I prefer my rum with coke cheers) (mostly rum very little coke)
My list of rums that I have tried (before finding this site) are...
Mount Gay Extra Old
Appleton Estate VX, and 12 yr.
Ron Zacapa 23yr. My favorite so far.....
Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva 15yr
Pyrat XO
and of course many years of Captain =)

Besides rum, I do enjoy either Crown Royal, or Jack Daniels Single Barrel.

If Zacapa is your favourite so far then try some of these:

For the sweet caramel flavors,
Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva
Pampero Aniversario
El Dorado 12
Fundacion XX
Barcelo Imperial

For spicey cinnamon notes,
Cubaney
Vizcaya

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I'll be happy to try any/all of the rums recommended if available in my area.

Have you tried Rob's tipsy turtle turd polish? It's also an excellent floor wax and makes a delicious dessert topping...

Try to cut back on mixing with coke, or maybe cut back on telling us about it.

Will it also take chrome off of a bumper?
I'll work on weaning myself off of using coke. Any good tips besides cold turkey?

Think of coke as a tragic scheme to defraud consumers into buying useless sugar water with caramel color. Rum, on the other hand, is a noble spirit with a purpose, created by artisans in myriad locales giving expression to their respectful love of organic chemistry and an enhanced perception of reality utilizing a common ingredient with myriad variations to create copious opportunities for us to explore.

If coke is your comfort food, it's not going to be easy to ween yourself off that powerful habit of refreshment, but seek out spirits that embrace the liquid treasure of molasses, butterscotch and caramel flavors in order to satiate your need for these addictive elements.

Zacapa 23 on the rocks tastes like rum and coke, so hold the coke.
