What "snack" goes with rum?

Try starting the session with something a bit heavy before the rum. Something meat based like chicken or meat balls. You do not have to eat a lot of it. The "heavy" food causes the stomach to close access to the intestines in order to process and break down the heavy foods. This then allows the rum to sit in the stomach longer and break down. The rum takes longer to absorb into your system this way. You can then enjoy the rum without getting (as) smashed. Unless, of course, that is your objective.

I know this is an old thread but i laughed at the last part and is there another reason to drink rum?
But seriously i love to eat spicy or satay beef jerky when i am having a rum.

Mostly deep fried stuff. Fried chicken, fried onion rings, French fries and of course deep fried plantains/bananas.

Dark choc here as well, or when I invite friends to a rum session I make sometimes my own mousse au chocolate.

Here in sweden we have a chocolate bar named "Bounty" Its a light chocolate that is surrounding like a moist, sweet coconut filling! This is exellent with a good sipping rhum! I just wish the candy was dark chocolate!

Other than that, mosts chocolate dessert is nice with rhum i Think! I have tried rhum together with a sallty blue cheese like Stilton, but that was not that good! (Cognac is exellent with Stilton though!)

I can imagine that dark chocolate with nuts will go perfectly to a good sipping rhum, but normally i just go with plain dark chocolate! But as with the rhum. The chocolate must be top quality!

Fruit cake, German Stollen and Ginger Cake go very well with a nice glass of rum!

Crisps and Nuts are a no-go for me.

And Cote D'Or dark chocolate - but then that goes with everything
