Default Demerara sugar and its uses

I recently saw, in of all places Wal-Mart, organic granulated Demerara sugar from Florida. Has anyone tried using this in their drink recipes or in making their own syrups or other cocktail concoctions? If so, any feedback on how it worked, as in, did it add or detract from drinks you were trying to make?

Thanks.

To be clear, are you asking if any of us specifically have tried whichever brand it is that Wal-Mart now carries? Or do you mean have any of used any 'Demerera Sugar' for syrups/cocktails etc.

I definitely have used this variety for syrup. My feedback would be try making a small reasonable amount and test it yourself. If you want syrup that is neutral (sweet only) then this type of sugar probably isn't ideal as it does impart a flavor, not mention its hue.
