Default Count Silvio and Appleton Rums

Count-
you menitioned on my originial appleton post 3 additional appleton rums that are not listed on the appleton's website. Appleton MB, 250 and 30. When did these rums come out and are they still available.

If anyone else knows, please feel free to chime in.

From what I can gather Appleton is marketing their high end rums very carefully and selectively. They maintain Country specific websites with very different looks. Try going to Appleton in Canada. I did. And was able to access and pass the Rum Academy.. and receive a nice member package sent direct from Canada. They haven't offered to send me any though... That's ok..I'll find it. Here is the link.

if i can remember well
appleton master blender legacy is the first rum which has been created by Joy spence when she start to work as master blender for appleton.
part of the rum used for the blend is up to 30 years old
it s extremely difficult to get this rum , only in america or at the airport in jamaica

The 250 has been created 1999/2000 for the 250 th anniversary of the appleton distillery
some of the rum used for the blend is up to 40 years old
there was only 3000 bottles produced.
almost impossible to find .

appleton 30 years will arrive on the market pretty soon .
it has been aged for 30 years in oak
there is only 1440 bottle produced .
it cost around 250Ј

The master blenders legacy and the 250th are available and as frenchrumlover said the 30 year old Appleton will be "available" soon. I will say that in quotes because of its extremely limited availability and the fact that collectors will no doubt buy most of them. You can read more about Appleton 30 from this press release I was mailed by Appleton (with image).

So where are these 'select markets" that this article discussed. I live in Washington DC is that select enough. I also know that the US is not a big Appleton Market anyway so it may never come here. So if any of you are betting men. Which state/city and liqour store in that city would you be that i will more than likely be able to find it. Thanks.

I don't know where they plan to sell these rums but if I have to bet I would bet London, probably the specialty drinks shop.

So I called Appleton and ask!!

It turns out that they are indeed making 1440 bottles of which 3 have already been used for tasting. A very small portion of the rum will make it here to the states, but the vast majority will be sold out of the duty free liqour stores in both of Jamica's international airports.

So who is going to Jamaica in the end of July?

Cheers!!!

I am going to visit Appleton in Jamaica in July. Just waiting for the dates to be nailed down, before or after Ed's Ministry of Rum Competition at Tales Of The Cocktail in New Orleans and July 15-19.

My guess (prayer) is that since Florida receives half of all the Appleton 21 each year, we will likely receive some of the rare 30 Limited Edition. I also believe you'll see this rum auctioned on E-Bay or similar outlets after the initial distribution.

Yep - 1 of those bottles was us on Monday night. Will tell you more when we have time. I was told that in each market the 30 year old will be sold as auctions to key customers and special orders etc.....

And the 250th is near as damn it impossible to find. The winner of our comp was given the only bottle in the Kingston office as a prize.

Catch you soon chaps

Joy worked with David Morrison (her protege) and Owen Tulloch to create the Master Blenders Legacy - they each picked their own favourite barrels for the blend...

Joy's gift to the world was and is the Extra. David Morrison's just created the Reserve which he's damn proud of...as he should be it's great
