Default Seeking Help in a Treasure Hunt

Hello All!

My name is Laura, I'm an assistant at a film production company. I am reaching out to you because I need all of your collective rum expertise.

My boss is insistent on getting a bottle of Mount Gay Sugar Cane rum for an important investor. He is putting a lot of pressure on me to find this bottle, which as you know has been discontinued for five years and is beyond difficult to find.

I am struggling to find this bottle, so I was wondering if any of you had any tips or leads in my search. Any and all help would be much appreciated!

Thanks and all the best!

I can't help you with your Mount Gay Sugar Cane Rum, I'm afraid, but welcome to the forums anyway.

I would check the European sites. Like the whiskey exchange and masters of malt. If you can't find it on the site call them. They would know where else to look

I'm kind of curious why an "investor" would be so interested in a Rum largely used for mixing that was sub $20 when it went extinct in the states. But maybe you could try contacting the Mt. Gay distillery itself and inquire about possible sources directly from them.

If that doesn't pan out, see if your boss will settle for the Mt. Gay Black Barrel Rum that averages in the mid $20's. It's vastly superior to the discontinued Sugar Cane variety IMHO. Anyway, good luck with your search.

When items are no longer available, people get interested even when the product is not that great. I really like the Sugar Cane rum for making rum and cokes. Stocked up on a few bottles when I heard they were being discontinued. I'll ask a rep to see if there are any dusty bottles in any of his accounts that I can snag for you.
