Maybe Forrest can help on this. I can tell you one thing though I do not like grapefruit but I love this drink.
hmmmm I suppose I could try it with grapefruit juice. With summer coming I am trying to come up with a repotoire of 'summer' drinks. This sounds like a winner along with Chairman's in coconut water, ti punch, and mojito.

Does the SAQ sell cane syrup or do you get it at a local grocery store?

This is how JWray works best for me - first - JWray and Ting - unbeatable, second - anything with white/yellow/citus fruits goes well, like grapefruit, pineapple juice, limes etc

2 oz Rhum agricole blanc or blanc + vieux, 0.5 oz JWray or more, 1 oz pineapplejuice or even better muddled pineapple chunks, 1/4 oz simple syrup, 1/4 oz orgeat and a little honeymix - a tsp (half liquid honey, half water) shaken with ice and served with crushed ice and topped with Ting is very good.
Its called Pineapple Delight and is usually served in the pineapple shell but can be served in a glass too of course.

I use JWray as a float as well and it works wonders to kick up cocktails.I usually avoid dark juices with this rum.

No SAQ sells only liquor. I get my cane syrup from "natural" groceries. The one I get is from Marie Brizard, the same company that produces a lot of fruit liquors.

J Wray and Grapefruit--- is still a no-lose scenario!

But Pineapple is a party too (like Tiare affirmed).
The drink with pineapple would look like a Hawaiian Daisy:
Just sub the 2 rums for 1...

Maybe Call it a Jamaican Daisy...
Build on cracked ice...

1 3/4 oz J Wray (50 ml)
1/2 oz pineapple juice (15 ml)
1/4 oz fresh lime juice (5-10ml)
1/4 oz grenadine (5-10ml)
Fill with soda

Try a Mai-Tai made with J Wray and The Kraken together. It's shattering.
