The blanco is a 5-8 year old rum so it's hardly White in the strictest sense but it is damn tasty. It's the same age range as the anejo but I've not had confirmation as to whether it uses the same 5% pot 95% column and honey/molasses mix.

What did they tell you Rob?

I don't generally trade in unconfirmed rumors, but I do have good reason to believe that Diplomatico Blanco will be in San Francisco at the Ministry of Rum Festival.
Santa Teresa's Claro will also be there as well as a few other molasses based white spirits including Tommy Bahama.

The Barefoot Diplomat
2.5 oz Diplomatico Rum Banco
3.5 oz good coconut water
1 oz key lime juice
2 oz Martinique cane syrup
2 drops Angostura bitters
2 drops Angostura orange bitters
combine into a shaker with ice. pump it good.

pour into a martini glass, or in a tumbler with rocks.
Robert, I bought the key limes today to make the Barefoot Diplomat.

It is fantastic!

The drops of the 2 different bitters are perfect for the balancing the amount of cane syrup. The bark and orange of the 2 bitters are, also, key taste components. Oh, the coconut water....

But, stiil the essence of the rum comes through. Many other blancos might be overwhelmed. Not the Diplomatico Blanco, though. It shines!

It is a crime not build this drink and have one.

Thanks!

Is that like an unstable, inverted-conical rum glass with a poorly designed vertical handle.

Robert, you must have one heck of a cocktail glass... 9+ oz (without the dilution of ice...) and balance to walk that around. . . and constitution to down it before it warms-- and then repeat.... Now we are talking COCKTAILS!!

Actually, I drink half of it right out of the shaker and pour the rest into the glass. (place smiling icon here)

The Barefoot base is so enjoyable... and yes, the flavor of good rum really shines in this mixture.

Hi once again Wally,
Just read your posting on the Diplomatico White. I had my first "white" eyeopener with my recent purchase of several bottles of Oronoco. I followed the threads on that product and saw the thread on the Dip.Blanco. That will be my new search quest, and something to look forward to trying. Maybe i will try and get Hatillo to order it up if I hit a wall on this.
(by the way, i found a good job, and can put Fine Rum back into the budget !)
Again, let me know when you are on Long Island and free for a drink, discussion and a handshake)
Kenny
