Default Need some advice with El Dorado rum before tomorrow morning

Anyway...

I am currently in Trinidad and will be flying out tomorrow early. I plan on stopping at the Duty Free stores. On the way out I saw a large-ish selection of El Dorado rums. I believe they had the 5,12,15, and 21yo. Since I cannot get ANY El Dorado rums in PA I obviously need to buy one. (The other bottle choice is reserved for an Appleton 12 which I cannot get either...)

Sooooooo which one and why?

I didn't price any of them except the 21yo. That was $75. I can afford it right now but want to know if it is worth it. (I know, loaded question right?)

There might be some other high quality rums there but didn't have enough time to check it out before I left the airport on the way in.

edit: Actually I just realized this should have gone to the general questions forum instead. Sorry.

From what I have seen that is a very good price on the 21. The 12 is sweeter and cheaper, and the 15 is a favorite of many for its smoothness and balance, but you probably should grab the 21 at that price. Of course, it may have too much oak from some. Check out these reviews:

You can't go wrong with any of the El Dorados ,... but $75 is a great price for the 21 yr. old and a special Rum treat for serious Rum connoisseurs. Treat yourself.

P.S. Are you not allowed to have on-line ordered spirits shipped to you in Pennsylvania?

As far as I can recall only through our state liquor stores. So it has to be on the list. Sometimes even if it is on the list there is a minimum order. pffft....

I usually bought two bottles of El Dorado 15 any time I found myself in the Trinidad airport.

Well.....

I grabbed my bottle of ED 21, but they didn't have the Appleton Reserve. Boo. So I grabbed a bottle of ED 12 instead. I thought I would do a vertical taste test with them.

However, when I paid for both bottles the total only came to $83. The store gave me a very nice discount. It was so nice, in fact, that I went right back and bought ANOTHER bottle of ED 21! Now I am the proud owner of two bottles of ED 21 and one of ED 12.

My only concern is that perhaps of a 2nd ED 21 bottle I should have instead grabbed a 15 to truly taste their whole cask aged flavor profile.

What do you think?

Of course if after I try the 21 and really do not like it I could always find someone willing to take it off my hands with a little bartering or swapping.... Hmmmm.... There is a thought there.

Let us know what you think of the 12 and the 21.
