Ed, what does the "8 aсos" refer to if it is not a statement of age?

The Bacardi 8 Anos is still going to be in the market even if their Nassau facility is to close. Has anyone tried their "Reserva Limitada" or how about "Casa Bacardi"?

I know this is an old post and I never commented much on this forum but I just purchased two bottles of Bacardi 8 here in Canada. I just want to add my 2 cents worth.

First in my opinion this is a solid rum. I'm not familiar with the other Bacardi products but I love this rum for my rum and cokes. My other go to rums for my rum and cokes are: Havana Club anejo, Havana Club 7, Flor de Cana 5, 7 and 12, Pyrat XO and El Dorado 15 (yes ED15 in my rum and coke mmm)

Second its January,2014 and my bottle of Bac 8 says Bahamas rum on the label..so I guess all the previous talk of them selling the Bahamas distillery and it being made elsewhere didn`t come to pass.

Third, the Bacardi website I just viewed says that their Bacardi 8 is aged a minimum of 8 years. So their label statement of 8 anos and their website statement confirms that it is indeed an aged 8 year old rum, otherwise I foresee an upcoming class action lawsuit in the US and Canada! Cheers!

Bacardi did sell the Distillery in the Bahamas, what they did though is to ship the ageing rums they have for Bacardi 8 to Puerto Rico, they should be soon depleting this and then the label of the Bacardi 8 would soon state "Rums of Puerto Rico"

Bacardi 8 is a solid and very good rum. I sometimes feel that Bacardi should release their rum's under another name initially just to see the reaction.

The Bacardi 8 and the Bacardi Reserva (not Reserva Limitado) are both proof that if you look beyond Bacardi Superior, Select, Gold(Oro) and Black you find that they can make a very good rum.

At the end of the day the likes of Superior, Select etc are mass marketed and cheap.

The 8 year old and Reserva aren't hugely expensive (under £30) but they are very enjoyable and well produced rum's.

As I've said on my blog. Only bash Bacardi when you have tried one of these rum's.

that's true.i consider bacardi white superior the worst rum ever.it tastes like vodka to me.i didnt like bacardi oro too much either and while bacardi black is my favorite rum i know it is not of the greatest rums.it's good for its price.that's why i was skeptic about the rest of bacardi rums.

but recently i bought bacardi 8 (label says imported from bahamas) and it was very a pleasant surprise.it is not top rum but it becomes one of my most favorite rums.

but i was more surprised when i tried bacardi reserva (not reserva limitada).i expected it to be somewhere at bacardi oro's ( for years i thought it's the same rum) level and definitely below bacardi black.maybe it's price confused me because while i paid 28e for bacardi 8 i paid only 15 for bacardi reserva.bacardi 8 is definitely better of these 2 but that's a very good rum for it's price and it changed my opinion about bacardi

Bacardi distills it's white rum just under what vodka is distilled at so it can't be called vodka. Hard to tell them apart

Bacardi 8 is a decent rum. It's been years since I bought a bottle. While in Maui it was the best one on the shelf. And I enjoyed it quite a bit that trip

So it is 2016 and Bacardi 8 has been changed over to the new bottle style. Still shows made in Bahamas and tastes the same. Since it is an 8 year old product and the distillery was sold around 2008, I can only assume the Bahamas product will soon run its course. Has anyone seen Bacardi 8 not produced in the Bahamas yet?
