Default Foursquare Rum

Many years ago I was a rum fanatic but once I discovered Bourbon it took a back seat as I found may rums to sweet & cloying. I revisited Appleton 12 as I remember it as being more complex and bourbon like. It still came off too sweet. Has it changed? Then I had Foursquare 2004....Wow, just what I'm looking for. Is this bottle widely available? Also any other suggestions for a more bourbon-like Rum?

Foursquare 2004 is part of the limited "Exceptional Cask" series. Anything from Foursquare would be a solid choice. They also produce aged rums for other brands like Real McCoy, St. Nicholas Abbey, Rum Sixty Six just to mention a few.

Good Advice ↑

You've started at the top of somewhat available in America rums.
FWIW, Doorly's rums are from Foursquare and Total Wine carries them. The 12 is a personal favorite. Now the 2004 is a 59% heavyweight and the Doorly's is at 40%-er that punches above its division, but it ain't no match for the 2004, though the similarities are there.

There are quite a few other Foursquare Exceptional Cask Series rums coming out in the near future. Look out for them.

I recently visited the Foursquare Distillery and was able to sample almost everything that was available at the time. The 2004 and the Zinfandel Cask were my favorites.

Foursquare is going to release the Foursquare 2005 and it will replace the 2004 you tasted so you will have another buy ahead

2004 is still available in some shops but bottles are limited.
