Default Bearcat Intro

Hello, I am from SW Ohio 90 miles from the world famous Kentucky Bourbon Trail. So inevitably I was weaned on Bourbon in particular Jim Beam , a friend father worked at National Distillers distribution center and brought home damaged goods OK damaged packaging “ The Beam “ was fine. As my tastes matured and income increased I started purchasing single barrel and small batch bourbons. That was the beginning of my bourbon journey but it seems I traveled without a map. And as a result got lost sometimes
So why am I joining the Ministry of Rum. Well same reason as many of you, a very good friend turned me on to slipping some rum and I am immediately hooked. So here I go down another enjoyable journey but this time I am taking my “Rum GPS” with me, you all.
So help, I have a wonderful liquor store in the area The Party Source that seems to carry everything
I am looking for some suggestions, price is important but never the determining factor taste is my determining factor

Welcome to the rum forums bearcat. Jay Erisman is a good mentor at Party Source. You aren't the first bourbon drinker to have a sip of rum, no shame in that.

Welcome to the forums. I envy your closeness to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail as I am a bourbon fan as well as a rum drinker. And I love Skyline Chili.

Excellent thanks – I need another choice , but I am afraid I jumped off the deep end with my first choice se below.
So a quick rum buying story, I went to favorite liquor procurement center to buy a bottle for the weekend. I walked in and look up and got the preverbal deer in the head lights look. Could not believe the selection and just froze - now what - so I started replaying in my head the Sir Edward of Rums video tasting of Ron Zacapa 23. But still a bit unclear if that was the one Edward tasted, until I pulled it out of the box and saw the woven grass band and remembered the video of the nice Guatemalan ladies weaving them. Thanks ladies
That was three bottles ago

Default bring on the Rum!

Hello from Quebec, 1 of the worst provinces to be a rum collector!
I started collecting my rum just less than 2 years ago!

I have about 55 unopened bottles of what I consider some excellent treats!

I will be posting the pics very shortly.

Default new guy

Thanks for the welcome, I have been consuming rum in large quantities for years and am now ready to reduce my consumption and increase the quality and knowledge of my friend Rum.

Default My Introduction

Today, I discovered the Ministry of Rum, what a great find.

As a chemist, I have been exploring new ways to drink rum, and actively seeking out great sipping rums for many years. The Ministry of Rum looks like an excellent place to help me with this quest. I would be interested in learning from some members about their favorite sipping rums.
