Default Rum Recipe Contest

I'm sponsoring a rum recipe contest for July 2010 with the prize being a signed copy of Rums of the Eastern Caribbean for the winner. To enter you must be registered on the forum, then just make your recipe, cocktail, dessert or other rum recipe, take a picture, crop it to suit yourself then enter the details here, or follow the link on the front page.

There will be more rum recipe contests in the coming months, so if you don't win this one don't despair. Votes will be cast by visitors to this website, registered members can vote 3 times per day, non-members can only vote once per day.

I'm a bit surprised by the response to the first rum recipe contest on this site. Within the first three days there were more than 20 entries and after less than 2 weeks there are more than 600 votes and more than 2,000 page views on the contest page.

Forum members can vote up to three times a day while unregistered visitors can vote once a day.

There are some interesting recipes there. And then there is one that seems to be designed to sicken college kids with artificial flavors and sweetness.

I tend to agree with you angelsword. This month's contest was designed to test the response to a rum recipe contest on this site. So far with more than half of the month still ahead of us I'm overwhelmed with the quantity, if not the quality of the recipes, though there are some very good recipes being posted.

I'm also surprised at the number of page views and votes. I've added those stats at the bottom of the page.

There will be another contest next month so if you're thinking you don't have enough friends to vote for your recipe, or your recipe isn't quite up to the standards you've set you've got a couple of weeks to get your act together and post it on this site.

Choosing is too difficult! I'll make the ones that I can with the rums I have on hand.

I agree with you lperry. Mixing cocktails is a lot like cooking, no use working on recipes if you have the groceries.

Thanks to everyone who has submitted recipes and voted. Members can vote up to three times per day.

Thanks to everyone who has voted in the rum recipe contest. I'm actually surprised that to date more than 1400 votes have been cast by more than 640 unique voters, measured by ip addresses.

The Rum Recipe page has been viewed more than 5,000 times.

Considering that not so long ago this site served about 5,000 visitors a month, I'm glad to see how many people have been able to expand their rum horizons through this site.

Congratulations to yellowbeard, who won the July Ministry of Rum Recipe Contest. Here's a link to the winning recipe.

Congrads indeed I tend to like simpler cocktails and usually stick to one rum. Yours fits the bill nicely.
