Cool Hello from Central Illinois

I am not new to the world of spirits as I have enjoyed more than a few epressions of single malt, vatted, and blended scotchs, as well as the beautiful drams that can be found with American whiskies like bourbon, Tennessee whiskies, wheated whiskies, whiskies, and of course the moonshine/unaged corn whiskies of lore. I have enjoyed rum as well, but not close to the same diversity of expressions as I have in the above other drinks. I'm dabbled a bit....Sailor Jerry, Bacardi, Captain Morgan are the the ones that come to mind, but never a serious exploration of rum and that is why i am indulge into rum with the same passion as I have scotch and bourbon.

I am a twice married father of four children and grandpa to four beautiful grandchildren. I have been working as a non-faculty employee in the world of higher education for about 28 years, and plan to be there only for a little bit longer. My post-retirement career is aimed at finding something to do withn the adult beverage industry beyond being a very good consumer. What this is as of yet I do not know, still exploring what I really want to do when I grow up. I am currently at the beginning stages of earning a Sports Pilot License, and this has been quite a fun challenge. I am an exceptionally opinionated sort, especially in affairs of public policy, politics, and my country of birth (THE United States of America) and my country of ancestry (Scotland).

I look forward to learning more about rum then my limited experiences allow for now, and to hopefully be a positive contributor to these forums.

Welcome to the MoR, from a fellow retiree. You will enjoy this site and the knowledgable people who visit here. As you aquaint yourself and become an active member, you might want to visit the Rum Recipe Contest (home page, left, part way down). As a member you have three votes a day and the contest runs for all of July. I encourage you to vote for the rum recipe that you think would taste best. Pay attention to Red Sail in the Sunset (my entry), it is easy to make and very good to drink.
Again, Welcome to MoR.
