Default Difference in Grog/Daiquiri?

Hello everyone, first-time poster and knew I'd find an answer in the wisdom here.

I'm interested to know if there's a difference in the ingredients between Navy grog and the traditional daiquiri?

As far as I can tell, they each involve rum(light or dark), lime juice, and in some cases grog also has sugar/simple syrup added.

Is there some differentiating feature I'm missing? Anyone have insight into why/how the daiquiri evolved as a separate drink from grog?

I don't know, but a combination of rum, lime juice and sugar is the basis for most rum cocktails.

You also need grapefruit juice and 2:1 honey mix to make the original recipe.

And its like 2 or 3 different types of rum.

In my experience Grog doesn't need grapefruit, the original was rum, lime and sugar with the rum diluted from cask strength.

The Martinique ti punch is also lime, sugar and rum, but the sugar and lime are just to highlight the rum and not to add a lot of flavor.
In a daiquiri you're looking at a ratio of rum:lime:syrup of something like 5:3:2.
