I smoke cigars with rum all the time. I like strong/full flavored cigars so usually pair with a darker flavorful rum. A Cuban Montecristo #2 with Mt Gay Extra Old is a favorite pairing. I think if you stick with lighter rums for mild cigars and darker rums for full flavored cigars you really can't go wrong. Many times you'll have a pairing that is really good but then your surroundings, occasion and people you were with have a lot to do with it as well.

Default New member, excited to be here, as I sip a La Floridita

Hello fellow Rum enthusiasts,
My name is johnnypelo1 and I'm from the USA. I'm a huge fan of Rum except for spiced rums. In particular, I love classic Tiki cocktails from guys like Don the Beachcomber.
Don't get me wrong, I love whiskey, craft beers, gin, etc but there is something about a classic Tiki drink with the perfect rum or combination of rums to really create a memorable cocktail.

My current favorites are Admiral Rodney, Hamilton 151, Cruzan Aged (instead of Bacardi Silver for drinks that call for a standard white rum) and Appleton Estate. I am going to be trying El Dorado pretty soon and am excited to see what it's like.

I'm ready to learn!

Hi, I'm from Southern California. I came here to get information on good sipping rums! I am also a bourbon and scotch drinker; I enjoy cigar/liquor pairings.

Cool Hi There!

Thank you for adding me to the Ministry and welcome to all other new comers.
My name is Anni. My husband fell in love with English Harbour Reserve 5 Year Rum when we visited Antigua in 2013. Now, his birthday is approaching and I would love to surprise him with a new bottle. He already has his cigars... Do I visit the gift shop?
Personal stuff...I am a a beta-tester/moderator of the Stephen King Message board under the same username. (NOT self promotion, just letting the mods know that I am real! LOL)
Many thanks again, happy to be here.

Welcome to the forums, unfortunately, you can't buy your favorite rum here, and that rum is hard to find though there was a bit of that rum imported to Canada a few years ago.

Default Ron del Barrilito

Hi,

I just saw Ron del Barrilito in a gourmet grocery store in Phoenix, looked it up on line, and joined the forum. I will be visiting Puerto Rico on a cruise about February 8th and wondered where in Puerto Rico one might suggest we visit to eat and drink for an hour or two. The Parrot Club was one place a friend suggested. We will be touring Bacardi and then have two hours before we need to board the ship.

Thanks for your help.

Michael.

Default New beginnings.

Hi all, nice to be here. Rediscovered rum later in life but with a different level of appreciation (quality over quantity).
Look forward to learning more.
