Default Long overdue hello from Washington, D.C.

Apologies to Ed for taking so long to actually begin participating in these forums, but I hope that he understands the time-constraints.

I'm a retail spirits manager in Washington, D.C. with over 100 cane-spirit products in my store (which, as far as I'm concerned, represents "a good start")

To me, rum is the "fun" spirit, woefully underappreciated in the U.S.A. How I wish that more customers were a bit more adventurous and curious.

I won't go so far as to actually demonize certain rum brands ("demon rum"? What a funny notion) but I fear that, for most consumers, their watchwords for rum buying are "better the devil you know".

My favorites would exhaust my fingers typing here, but suffice it to say that Neisson, La Favorite, El Dorado, and Flor de Caсa top my list.

I like the Appleton line quite a bit.

The classic bottlings from Cruzan (not all of those crazy flavored rums) I like, too.

I'll stop there for now.

I also watch those Corona beer commercials and think to myself, "You silly people, you could be drinking Ti punches instead!"

Happy to be here at MOR, hope I can be of assistance once in a while.

If you will allow me to welcome you to the forums Joe.

Ed and the Entourage are ensconced in another tasting in Chicago as this is being written.

You may feel the lash in your remiss in not joining sooner, Alas it shall not come from me.

We look forward to your participation.

Thank you kindly, Rum Runner. Much appreciated.

So Ed is in Chicago, eh? Now we know what makes Chicago, "that toddlin' town".

I'm guessing that I'll do more learning here than I will educating, but that's just fine with me.

Right now, I'm hoping to master forum posting with one hand while balancing a glass of El Dorado 12-yr in the other. Not a fancy skill, but a worthwhile accomplishment nonetheless.

Hope the rest of the weekend is a good one for all.

I'm multi-tasking with a glass of Ron Don Q Gran Anejo!

Where in DC is your store located? I am up the road in Clarksburg, Montgomery county and with the county run stores, it's hard to find that special bottle. There is a store with some good stock pretty close in Frederick, but their prices are a bit inflated. With that being said, I will definitely look at bringing some business your way.

Welcome to the forums. I completely understand the constraints of time and energy, especially when you're working overtime to expand the sugar cane spirits portfolio in your store.

Joe,

I've dispatched one of my Rum Mules to your place of business. I hope that you have Viscaya VXOP and Diplimatico Reserva in stock.
