Default June 2011 Diplomático Reserva

Diplomático Reserva is the rum of the month for June 2011. Distilled in Venezuela, Reserva is often overlooked for it's older brother Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva but Diplomático Reserva demonstrates that age isn't everything.

What a great choice for Rum of the month. Every time I go back to my bottle I am impressed all over again! Thanks for reminding me that it is time to return once more!

(I sense a rum chat on the way)

I am a new member, joining just today.

It's interesting and a bit surprising to me that Diplomatico happens to be the rum of the month. I cannot locate either the Reserva or Reserva Exclusiva anywhere in Henderson or the Las Vegas Area. I really want to try them both but so far, the only online retailers that I have found who have it in stock cannot ship spirits to Nevada. What a bummer!!!

Distribution is the biggest obstacle in the US for importers and producers of alcohol. At this point there isn't a distributor in your state that recognizes the value of selling many good rums, even though consumers, retailers and bars are asking for these products.
The best thing you can do is to ask your favorite liquor store and bar to ask their distributor for this and other rums. It is a slow process but in the end it's about the only way you can influence your state market.

Thanks for your thoughts Ed,

Unfortunately, I have already asked several small liquor shops in the area, as well as the two largest shops, "Lee's Wine & Liquor" with 12 locations and "Total Wine" with 2 locations. They both state that the distributors they use do not have the Diplomatico Line available.

The city of "Baker" in California and the City of "St. George" in Utah are both about 100/125 miles from me in opposite directions. I guess I should do some research and find out if there are any liquor stores in those areas that carry the Diplomatico Line.

Does anyone know the best way to complete a search of that kind?

Sounds like a road trip. Head over to Hi Time and load up. I've looked at some online shops looking for a particular rum. The odds of that shop not shipping to your area generally go up exponentially as your lust for that certain rum increases.

Unfortunately no. Hi Time is in Costa Mesa which is about another 180 miles from Baker.

That's not good!

I buy my beloved Madeira Wines from K&L which is also in California, however, they cannot ship spirits to Nevada.

I have never found the well talked about "Exclusiva" and I would love to compare it to the Diplomático Reserva, one of my top five sipping rums.

Nice to see it here as a rum of the month.

I often read that Diplomático Reserva is a bit thin compared to its older brother, I would sure like to experience that for myself
