Black Roberts spiced rum??

Hello, everyone!

I was doing some online window shopping (screen shopping?) and I came across Black Roberts spiced rum. It's quite cheap, coming in at under $7 a bottle, and I was curious if anyone had the pleasure of trying this rum. I thought I'd get some feedback on it before adding it to my next purchase, but if no one has, with it being so cheap the curiosity alone is worth the price. Also thought I'd share this cheap rum in case anyone else was looking for an extremely cheap one to try next.

My son, knowing my love of all things rum, had me try some at his home. Dubious stuff to be sure... Says it's made in Florida, but I could find no "Home Page" for it or the distillery that makes it. But onto the taste...

It's unlike most spiced rums, it's certainly not a Captain Morgan clone... This one has more nutmeg or cinnamon in it or something that gives it a very unique and to my taste at least, unpleasant flavor in the mouth.

While some may enjoy it, it certainly costs little to do so. So try it as your pallet may think it's the cat's meow. One man's so so is another man's "best" and if you love rum as I do, then it's all about the journey...

The Florida distillery may be Florida Distillers in Auburndale. Less than $7 sounds like a closeout, or check the proof.
Barcelo is not made in the Turks and Caicos, but Bambarra is bottled there after being distilled in Trinidad.

I bought a 1.75 ltr bottle for under $10. I believe it was a closeout special. It's also 70 proof. It's vanilla smell reminds me more of Sailor Jerry than Capt. Morgan. It's definitely not a sipper, but not a bad mixer.
