Shelf life of Rum Cream

I bought a bottle of Cruzan Rum Cream and this bottle just tasted off. Due to the dairy, it had me thinking the Rum Cream would have some sort of shelf life? Thoughts?

After opening, I put mine (I like the ED rum cream) in the refrigerator. I like it chilled anyway. Frankly, mine has never lasted long enough to test it's staying power, but I generally keep a bottle for 2 or more months with no noticeable loss of quality.

Like that best friend in high school that stole your girl, eventually rum creams will turn on you. To make sure that never happens, use the following recipe to make the "White Zombie."

Rob's White Zombie
4 oz Cruzan Rum Cream
1.5 oz Cruzan Black Strap
1.5 oz Voodoo Spiced Rum
1.5 oz Redrum
1.5 oz Bruddah Kimio's Da Bomb 155 Overproof (em-bombing fluid)

Fill a big shaker with ice, add rums, and shake 'til yer hand damn-near freezes. Pour into a tall glass, sprinkle a tiny amount of nutmeg on top, add a straw and a garnish of small pineapple wedge. Find a good place to relax.

Yes, it's 10 ounces of rum that tastes like a milkshake, named for the famous movie starring Bela Lugosi -- White Zombie -- the first zombie move ever made.

This is totally impossible for me to resist, but unfortunately i dont have access to these rums so iґll have to tweak the recipe so much that it becomes a new drink:

1oz Port Royal demerara (92 proof)
1oz Banks XM demerara
1oz Silver Seal 15 year demerara (110 proof)
0.5 oz Uitvlugt fullproof demerara (132 proof)

OOOO! nice variation. I'll have to try that one as well. I love the Demerara rum cream and the other Demerara rums! Maybe add something with spice.

1 oz Amarula Cream
1oz Port Royal demerara (92 proof)
1oz Banks XM demerara
1oz Silver Seal 15 year demerara (110 proof)
0.5 oz Uitvlugt fullproof demerara (132 proof)

Shake and strain..

Garnish Mexican cinnamon stick.

Its maybe too many flavors going on at the same time, on the other hand, its that kind of drink.

Our rum recipe King and Queen (Robert and Tiare)have provided marvelous reasons to enjoy rum cream in concoctions, but I'm such a boor that on the occasion that I might have a bottle of ED Rum Cream I can barely contain myself from swigging straight from the container! I have a horribly powerful sweet tooth that is combined with a yen for richness. I find the stuff.......intoxicating. Oh woe!

Keeping the rum creams in the fridge is definitely a good idea...I've found that it even says so on the bottles.

This is a pretty good thread for me as I have asked the same question. I noted that Bailey's Irish Cream has a stamped expiration date of just around 6 months, and, that's even if you don't open it. I started paying attention to it when I had an unopened bottle that was about a year old and found that it had turned. Now, I do note that the alcohol (%/proof) is lower in the BIC, but there must be a time limit for rum cream, too.

if the solids start to coagulate, you can always churn it into rum butter.
