Default Hello from a Baltimore Rum Newbie

Hello all! I've only found the wonderful world of fine spirits recently back in February of this year (upsetting to think how many years I've wasted). A friend finally convinced me it was a world worth exploring and while I can't stand admitting when he is correct...well, he was correct .

My first sipping rum was Zaya back in Feb. and found it to be quite enjoyable. Though I was eager to try some other varieties of spirits and soon found bourbon which also appealed to me. Throughout the year he has shared several other rums with me but with my focus on bourbon I didn't pay a lot of attention to rum.

I couldn't tell you what changed about three months ago but I've come full circle back to the world of rum, LOL Since then I've decided to 'restart' my exploration of rum with a clean slate.

My first rum at bat is currently Flor de Cana 12yr which has been incredible and I'm looking forward to trying more Flor de Cana rums.

Along with the rum's enjoyable traits I'm also very interested in history behind these spirits which consumes a lot of my personal reading time in the evenings so I may end up asking historical questions as I get more familiar with the forums.

You are hereby spared from any additional introduction. As for my username, quite frankly I'm tired of choosing usernames so I just use an alphanumeric randomizer application.

Welcome to the forums. I almost deleted your introduction as spam based on the username but your ip address checked out and since you didn't have a bunch of links to foreign websites I read your post.

I'm confident that you'll find plenty of information within the thousands of pages on this site to keep you busy during what looks like is going to be a long cold winter in the NE.

And if you decide you'd like to change your username to something that others can easily type, just drop me a PM.

Wow! I had never thought about my username being viewed as spam, much appreciated for giving it a quick read I'll be glad to change it and will drop you a note now...thanks for the heads up.

Indeed it does look to be a wonderful long cold winter...we haven't had one since 2000 (really 1996 when talking about big snowfall).

Looking forward to many evenings of reading through these forums....with a rum companion in one hand of course

Hello Again! My apologies for bothering you so soon. I tried to send you a PM but it says I do not have sufficient rights to access that page. I figured the next best way to get my username changed would be another post since they are moderated by you.

Whenever convenient could you change my username to ' BaltRumFan ' and if that is by chance not available ' BaltRumFan09 '

BaltRumFan, you're in luck. Baltimore has a few great rum bars where you can sample great spirits and talk with bartenders who know their stuff. My favorite is a little place up by MICA called Joe Squared. The owner is a rum enthusiast and keeps his bar well stocked.....good pizza too.
