Default Introductions

Hi all,
I've been limin' on Ed's board for a long time. We met at the Rumfest in San Diego. I import One Barrel rum from Belize, and Ed's always been helpful to me. I appreciate that a lot. I like adventure travel, including such off the wall places as Irian Jaya, the western part of the island of New Guinea. All the kids there followed me around, since seeing a white guy was so unusual. I'm a photographer and diver, I like to get my old, beat up Landcruiser dirty, I hike, hunt, fish and camp out whenever I can.
I'm a rum fanatic. Naturally, I'm partial to my brand, but I enjoy all good rums. My favorite rum? The one that's in my glass, of course. I'm looking for new brands to import, and new markets to open. I just signed a distributor in downstate Illinois, which is cool, and I'm still trying to sign one in the Chicagoland area. After that, I'll probably try to find distribution in Minnesota and Wisconsin. It's a fun racket.

Default Flor de Cana

Sir, These Nicaragua rums are truly the best that I have had. The one that is closest to my heart is their seven year old Grand Reserve.

Hi Frenchman,
I assume you're talking about Flor de Caсa. They make some great rums, don't they? I also recommend One Barrel rum from Belize, available over the internet from K&L Wines.

Dan,

I must say that I love your One Barrel, Ive got a whole case of it! Well... 9 and a half bottles now. If you are looking for a good rum to import, what about some Asian rums which dont exist to this side of the world. Id love to see Tanduay out of Philippines or Old Monk from India!

Old Monk is in the US, in limited markets, California and Illinois are but two. Tanduay has been in and out of the US market over the years. For some reason they haven't been able to get their expectations of the US market in line with those of the importer.
