Hi Fellow Rum-ers,
I'm an American living on the Emerald Isle of Ireland -- and I'm not going back. But I do miss the American liquor supermarkets where I could buy 30 different types of rum. Being from Houston, TX there is a liquor store chain there called 'Specs' that is renowned for its spirits selection.
How I long for the days when I could buy rums from Greneda, Haiti, Dominican Republic, and many more Carribbean island rum producers. Here in Ireland there is Baccardi, which is ok, and Salty Dog which is a molassesy (I'm sure that's spelled wrong) rum, which I like a lot. Kind of like a Gosslings light.
I will tell you that I had a bad rum experience in Australia one time when I bought a bottle of Bundaberg. I'm sure there are several people who like this rum but in my 52 years on this earth it is the only liquor that I have ever poured down the drain. Maybe it had been in the sun too long.
Anyway, I don't know how much I can contribute since my access to good rum is VERY limited but maybe I can live vicariously through your posts.
