I'm new to rum. I brewed beer in the 90s and then started having kids and ran out of free time. My favorite beers were/are the darker ales (scotch ale, dunkelweizen, american porter, and dopplebocks).
The kids are getting a little older so I'm starting to have some more free time again
I still enjoy beer but and starting to branch out a little. I'm not a big fan of scotch, whiskey, bourbon, etc. but have always liked rum. I recently tried Sailor Jerry and Cruzan 9 (both spiced) and thought I should try to learn a little more.
I want to find a rum I will enjoy straight. Based on a quick read here I think I'm going to try at least these two...
Flor de Cana 7 Yr Old Grand Reserve Rum
Brugal Rum Anejo
Any others that people like straight
