I got a bottle of the RL Seales 10yr in Barbados last summer. Quite a light rum. Cool bottle.

Picked up a bottle of Brugal 1888 and a bottle of Freshwater superior single barrel rum while in Michigan on the weekend. The latter is produced by an artisan spirits company called New Holland brewing company in Holland Michigan. It's 105 proof amber rum.

My collection recently passed 100 rums. I really should stop....

Pyrat XO

had to see what all the fuss was about. seems to be a love it or hate it thing. didn't realize it was produced by Patron so i'm hoping it's not purely a marketing thing. in any event, it's a beautiful looking bottle for the bar

Years ago, 7 or so, it was pretty good. Not an orange-y cordial, but a real rum. But, it went in a different direction. I still have 2 bottles of the original stock. I am curious to hear your take on it. It's around $20 a bottle in CA, now. Actually, one can make a pretty good drink with it. I like it in a Rum Manhattan. The bitters tones down the sweetness.

I really like the Pyrat XO -- I find it mixes well in a variety of cocktails.

But yeah, it definitely has its haters.

Yes! It is on the lighter side in the complexity dept. at first sip. Then, subtle flavors start to poke through and you find yourself admiring it more with each sip. It's WAY too easy to "over-drink" this one. I've caught myself, more than once, having a third, forth...

Yesterday I also bought a bottle of Pyrat XO to see what all the fuss was about too. I'm not a fan of the citrus-y taste. I may keep the bottle when it's empty tho.

The week before I picked up a bottle of Zaya Gran Reserva. Now That was a temptress. Smooth and irresistible.
