I was working on some Mai Tai rum combos:
Myers Plantation White & Coruba
Coruba & Mt. Gay Sugar Cane
Coruba & Diplomatico Blanco
Diplomatico Reseva & Reserva Exclusiva
Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva (for both rums)
and to finish a very late night of mixing (drum roll)...
A Zacapa XO Mai Tai - easily the best of the evening,
sipped with the strains of "While My Wallet Gently Weeps" in the background.
After reading the thread about long opened bottles, I have decided to accelerate the use of my last bottle of pre-Shoppers Vineyard ZXO I bought in Mexico last April for $112 usd. Along with the Clement Shrubb used, it was pushing towards being the "$200 Mai Tai." Thank God it was so insanely good.
Edit: Just for the record, I started mixing at 10 pm and finished my last Mai Tai just after 3 am, so I paced myself well and was not 3 sheets to the wind by the time I got to the ZXO.
