10 Cane production is moving to Barbados

In this carefully worded article in the Caribbean Journal, the blending and bottling operations for 10 Cane are moving to the Foursquare Distillery on Barbados.

What is missing is whether or not the distillation will continue in Trinidad or be moved as well. As most readers of this forum know, in order to be considered a product of a particular country, the product has to be bottled there, but it doesn't necessarily have to be distilled there.

Foursquare is a very credible distillery/blender/bottler on Barbados so it will be interesting to see how this plays out in the long run.

The 10 Cane I bought this week in Juneau says Product of Trinidad and Tobago imported by Hennessy USA Inc. I like it a lot, and I hope the quality doesn't change with the move.

The quality already changed once before quite significantly when they changed the blend to contain older rums. I personally preferred the original younger product, however I have no doubts about the skills of Mr. Seale and if anything, the rum will be even better than before.

I've noticed changes in 10 Cane from the first bottling through the transitions to the new square bottle and I expect there will be more changes to come.
Seems even with LVMH money behind a brand, you have to have a good product at a reasonable price to be accepted in the market.

At the time 10 Cane was introduced there was a lot of buzz about rum taking off and there was a rush to get a premium priced rum on the shelf. Seems no one accepted the simple fact that rum drinkers are looking for more than a fancy price tag on a sub-standard product.
