Default Tom Pedroni, Rum in the Time of Corona

Every tragedy has its silver lining, and the enduring Covid crisis in the US has given me the time to finally do something I’ve been telling my doctor I’ve wanted to do for years— take the time to drink more good spirits. Over the past four months I’ve undertaken learning almost everything I can about the world of spirits and what my personal preferences are. I jumped in thinking I was a cognac guy, but soon realized that my new loves are agave spirits and— maybe even more— various sugar cane spirits. I’m finding that there are two sides of the rum spect-rum that give me the most pleasure— on the one hand the unaged fresh fermented and distilled cane juice of a good Martinican rhum, and on the other hand a funked mucked and dundered high ester Jamaican pot still rum.
