Even though there were a few of the berries in the mix, the major flavor has been from the Algerita wood and the associated aging. I had last tasted this in 2005, put it aside as unsuitable, and pretty much forgotten it. Now I find it very interesting indeed.

The natural wood has a brilliant yellow color that was used as a dye in early times. This has given the rum an unusual deep amber tint.
