How long does rum last.

My question is specifically for the premium rums. I know with wine once you open the bottle, you pretty much have to finish the bottle within 24 hrs before the wine starts to go bad. But what about rums? I know it last more than 24 hrs, but how long before it starts to change. A week? maybe 2. Perhaps 1 month or several months. I want to know how much time I have after I open up that premium bottle of rum before I have to drink it all? I look forward to the rooms responses.
