rhum bally

about fifty years ago i was in st.lucia,
which is a hop and skip from martinique and
was originally a french island before the english took it.
french rum was smuggled in as a normal procedure
and sold in the clubs.
i got hooked on bally which i remember as being purple.
i checked the bally defunct website and didn't recognize the label or the
colour descriptions of their various rums.
i disliked rhum clemente which was a normal light amber colour.
i guess now that its gone i'm just looking fpr confirmation that it existed.

J Bally closed their distillery in Carbet, Martinique in 1989 though the label still exists. I've never seen a purple bottle though there used to be some purple color on the label. The tradition of French rhum in St Lucia still exists though that trade isn't as prevalent as it used to be.
