Aloha,

My name is Martin and I've been lurking here for many moons and have decided that I really need to be more active and participate in this forum.

You may recognize me as the two hands with a jigger behind Ed on the Today Show (Http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19503080). :)

Actually I'm the owner of Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge (http://www.forbiddenislandalameda.com) in Alameda, CA- dedicated to recreating vintage exotic cocktails with premium spirits and fresh juices. We juice our own lemon, lime, orange, and grapefruit fresh daily and make most of own syrups and several liqueurs in house.

More to the point for this forum, we stock over 100 rare & premium rums (none of which have a bat on the label), and are always on the lookout for something new and interesting. We offer tasting flights, a monthly rum and cigar event, and more. Each February is our annual Rumfest, where we have speakers, new products, tastings and more. This year promises to be very special indeed with a few surprises.

I know I've met several of you in the past, either at FI or at Tales- I was one of the Rum judges last year, and look forward to toasting with you all again. Please be sure to drop me a line if you're ever planning to visit Forbidden Island as I want to be sure to be there to welcome you in person.

All the best to everyone!

Martin

Interesting looking lounge you have there and an impressive rum shelf might I add. Would love to drop in if given the chance.

I'd like to know more about the rum and cigar event you mentioned? Is it just an event for all the rum and cigar lovers to gather or does it involve any training?

I took the liberty of adding a link to your site from my site.

Welcome to the forum, when the Today Show producer asked if I knew a bar with a large rum selection where the owner might let them shoot some video Martin and the Forbidden Island came to mind. And since they had a segment producer in San Francisco it was easy to put things together. But I have to apologize to the regulars because they had to wait to get a drink while the production crew did their magic to make me look good.

Nope, just a relaxing afternoon on our tropical patio with your favorite smoke and a good rum. Nothin' fancy. But a great place to meet fellow enthusiasts.
