I found this article on the pending sale of Cruzan Rums parent company in the USVI Daily News after hearing a lot of talk about it on the local St Thomas AM talk radio station WVWI this morning.

I also heard rumors that Cruzan Estate Diamond is being discontinued. That's what happens when you're owned by a foreign government. Hopefully someone will recognize the value of that rum. I'd stock up while you can and not wait for a closeout as it could very well just disappear since it's already hard to find in a lot of states.

As the consolidation of the industry proceeds, we will continue to hear of the "little sister" company products being sent to the "woodshed".

You may be able to hear the beating of my feet as I run to the store and "hoard" what I can of Estate Diamond...With no apologies.

I hope that the better products of Cruzan (Indeed, the brand and facility itself) survive the next incarnation.

I am glad this has been posted. I think the Estate Diamond is a fine rum.
Off to the store I go.

There are a few bottles left in the Pennsylvania state store system, mostly in stores around Pittsburgh. They indicated this was a one time purchase with no plans to restock. There's a few less now that I got my order in.

How is it compared to the Single Barrel? Surprisingly they sell Diamond here for Ђ26.90

Hi-Time has a TON of Estate Diamond. I was there on Saturday and had to resist the urge to fill an entire shopping cart with it.

I settled on 2 bottles...I don't recall the price.

Nice!!

Just checked the Penna Wine & Spirits site and there are 39 of them at the local store here in Doylestown in Bucks County

At $14.00 a pop, I think I'll treat myself to an early Christmas present ;)

It is not my intention nor my desire to create a run on this rum, but if you can buy it for $14 a bottle you won't be disappointed unless you DON'T like good rum.

Should that have read.."unless you DON'T like good rum"?... Maybe I mis-read that part. I really don't think anyone will accuse you of "shilling" for Cruzan over this one Ed. St Thomas radio continues to talk nervously over this pending sale.

Picked up a couple of bottles of Estate Diamond tonight for 16.95 at Total Wine, just in case it disappears. If anyone hears that this rum will absolutely be discontinued, please post the info.

I spoke to myliquor rep who distributes Cruzan in PA, they know nothing about the extermination of this rum. I guess they would be the last to know anyway as theyre just the middle man.

I didn't care for the Cruzan Single barrel that I have sampled, but do enjoy the Estate Diamond and feel that this is the best VALUE that Cruzan offers.

Just got my order of Estate Diamond, it had to be shipped up from a state store in Pittsburgh. 100 miles divided by 21 days equals pretty damn slow, but thats beside the point.

I hadn't drank this in well over a year, and was curious whether it would be as good as I remembered, or if my tastes had changed.

This could be the best $13.99 rum ever! Great for mixing, and even passable neat.

I hope it will continue to be available.

That sounds like the mail service down here.. Glad you got some. I like it too. No further word heard here from St Thomas Radio or News on the Sale of the company. Everyone is just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
