I've finally posted my review (http://www.rumdood.com/archive/2007/12/10/rum-review-temptryst-mesquite.aspx)of Dan's Mesquite rum.

Short review:

Excellent, complex rum that really opens up when allowed to breathe in the glass for a few minutes. I would strongly recommend this to anyone that appreciates a dry, smoky, woody character in their spirits.

Thanks to Dan for allowing me to sample more of his wares.

That comes close to describing the character of my spirit, at least the dry and woody part. :p;):cool:

So when is this spirit going to be available?

So when is this spirit going to be available?

Everytime I turn around there is another roadblock. But we are working to set up another facility to be able to work agricole style rums in Texas. Of course it would be neither agricole nor cachaca, but our own event from fresh cane juice. Nothing contracted yet, but it looks good.

Everytime I turn around there is another roadblock.

I guess that this isn't true. It sometimes feels like a roadblock but really the opportunites seem to be expanding in a way that makes the results just a little further off.

I have tasted and spent some time with these rums, and they are exceptional.:D I will post my thoughts when more time allows. Thank you, Angelsword for making these fine products.:) It will be great to see your spirits on the shelves!! Or at least available by mail?

Finally, I will enter some notes. I wish a had a site like Dood's, the Count's or Scottes to enter all my thoughts, but since I don't, I will enter them here in an abbreviated version.
Mesquite:
Beautiful copper red orange hue, legs like a ballet dancer.
I sense Tropical fruit, bananas and mangos and a hint of caramel and vanilla on the nose.
Smokey wood on the palate, and I must say the Mesquite wood is very unique - delicious. Nice balance between sweet and bitter, something I love about rhum agricoles that this rum delivers. There is some spice here too, cinnamon and allspice.......?
Just a touch of heat on the tongue and back of the throat- nice.
On the finish that unique wood flavor just sits on your tongue and keeps you company. The rum continues to open up and flavors intensify after it rests in the glass for a time.
The is just an excellent rum. The only downside is that over half my bottle is gone already.
I will find the thread for Cherrywood and continue there.
