I do not know whether this is actually a rum or not, but I have had good success in adding it to rum-based punches. It can also be sipped neat if you have a sweet tooth. The flavoring comes from loquat fruit that grows wild all over Bermuda, but I do not know if the juice is fermented to make it, or added later as flavoring. It reminds me a bit of St. Maarten Guavaberry Liqueur. I have never seen it sold in the states, but I always bring a bottle or 2 back from Bermuda with me. I haven't been able to find any information online about the liqueur or its' distiller (Somers). Anyone know more about this stuff?

Bermuda Gold is made by Somers which is actually a part of Goslings. I was just in Bermuda this week and I happened to come across a small booth in a little building near the Royal Naval Dockyard where a young lady was dispensing samples of Gosling products: Black Seal and Gold rums and Bermuda Gold Liqueur. Since I literally had a Dark & Stormy in my hand, I didn't bother to sample the Black Seal. But I tried the Gold rum as well as the Bermuda Gold-the liqueur was amazing!
The young lady said its only available on the island because they use only the locally grown loquats and they have a limited supply. I brought home 4 bottles!
I found this out because it turns out the young lady running the sample booth is a member of the Gosling family!!

Makes a nice nice digestif after a meal. I was introduced to it on one of our trips to Bermuda, sitting at the bar after dinner chatting with one of the locals, he ordered up some of the stuff for us to try, and I was hooked.
Man... I'm looking forward to our visit to Bermuda later this year... we normally go every year, but missed it last year. We try to time our visits with the local lobster season LOL!

You can do it yourself, (http://ca-le-dou.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=49_50&products_id=108 bibasse#loquat) in Chauvet or Charrette rum or any unexpensive good white rum (not too flavored http://reunionboutik.com/shop/article_557/Rhum-Charrette-Bleu-Long-Drink.html?shop_param=cid%3D19%26aid%3D557%26), with the added pleasure to prepare and wait (a month at least), then sweeten it with sugarcane /syrup. Then you can re-fill with rum as you drink it. In the Réunion island it is a long established custom, you have such rhum arrangé in every pub/bar/home/etc., with a lot of flavours, loquat is just one of them. Be carefull, you get quickly addicted!
