If you're referring to the rum from French Guyana, I had some from a distiller friend in Martinique. It wasn't as refined as rhum agricole from Martinique but the white rhum I tried had a lot of flavor and finished with a spicy floral note.

I am assuming this is a rhum agricole from Guyana?

There are several rhums from St Maurice (http://ministryofrum.com/rumdetails.php?r=360) in French Guiana.

Like rums made from molasses rhum agricole is very diverse. Even on the islands where these rums are made the diversity of the spirits produced is quite noticeable.
Vodka is perhaps the least diverse of the distilled spirit but certainly not all vodka is the same.

Some people in the French rum arrangи forum think I should make arrangиes with vodka seen to that different rums are hard to find here but certainly not vodka. The idea is good but the problem is that I don`t like vodka..
Of course a cocktail that contains vodka can taste good, but then its not the vodka itself that makes it taste good. Rum on the other hand tastes good both neat, on the rocks and in mixed drinks..

After a very long time waiting I finally got my la Cabresse today. I bought it from the Italian EBay store Rumlife which has a very good selection of agricoles, and other rums, and they ship worldwide.
I took 3 glasses and made one neat, one Ti punch and one mixed with some Montebello. No ice and i used brown sugar not syrup.
I started with the neat first.. This rum really has a lot of flavor and its quite different from the ones I so far have tried from Martinique. I find it surprisingly dry and very strong in taste with grassy/floral and a bit spicy notes. I like it very much.
Then the Ti punch.. it was very nice, in fact VERY nice:D
Then mixed with Montebello vieux..it was nice of course, but this rum has such a special taste that I prefйr not to mix it with any other rum.
And that was it, now i`m going to make a 4th Ti punch and add some ice.

I've tasted La Cabresse many times.
We have it also with the label La Cayennaise http://i11.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/9b/64/185c_1_b.JPG, is it the same?
I think yes, because I know very well RumLife and its seller Alma
Here it's quite famous because it's cheap (50cl..) and it remember Agricole aromas but it is not so erbaceous, but sweeter and rounded.
It is not so refined ( and not so transparent!) but I like it.

Oh, how I wish I had access to some of the rhums that are available in Euope!

Yes, this is the Rumlife I purchase from and I have got many nice e-mails from Alma who is very helpful. In fact, this La Cayennaise is what I plan to buy on my next purchase, and maybe a Dillon dark cigar..
Hank, I think Rumlife ships worldwide but I don`t know the price for US or the your regulations for importing.
There is another ebay seller from italy name BARALBABAR (your_ebay barseller) who has good selections too. They have the Zapatera among others.
