I am in the vast majority of people who have only had angostura aromatic bitters.

Im wondering, what do you all prefer in your cocktails? aromatic? orange? lemon? angostura? peychaud? fee brothers?

Damn, just try them all. Two bottles of bitters will show more variance than a dozen bottles of rum. You could experiment for months.

That said, I like Gary Regan's Orange #6 quite a bit, as well as Peychaud's.

But it all depends how they're used....

I'm trying not to spend a bunch of money, I found a lot of bitters for $20 a bottle, so I figured ask the pros! I'll keep those 2 in mind for purchase, thanks!

I second Gary Regan's Orange #6. I found it here (Fort Worth, TX) for under $5.

OK, at $20 a bottle I understand. Most of the ones I've seen are $3-5.

Avery Glasser and Christopher Ravlin are working hard making and bottling bitters in Brooklyn. This is small batch production so they're small enough to tweak recipes as their market evolves. So what do you call a new line of bitters? Here's the answer (http://bittermens.com/).

I only a few bitters standing near: Angostura, Fee Brothers, Peychaud, and Ritter's Orange.

Tonight the cocktail I made for my wife needed both the Angostura and the Ritter's Orange.
