Since Christmas is just around the corner and most of us will likely be purchasing rum, I am curious to know which four rums people would list as their absolute favorites.
Here are my current* favorites.
Ron Centenario Fundacion XX Aсos
Zaya Gran Reserva
Santa Theresa 1796
Pyrat Cask 1823
* My favorites change often. These three represent what I most often want to drink from the selection I have at hand.

These would top my wish list.
Vizcaya VXOP
Oronoco
Centenario Fundacion XX Anos (I second that)
Flor de Cana Centenario 21 Commerative
Hank Koestner

My current 4:
Neisson Rhum Agricole XO
Damoiseau Rhum Agricole Ans d' Age 15
El Dorado 15
Appleton 21
This was hard!! These are my current favs, but I dont have to purchase them since I have them. There is another thread for the wish list...
Tough one...
Temptryst Cherrywood
Ron Zacapa 23 Anos
Appleton Estate 21
Pyrat Cask 1623
Of course, these fluctuate from day to day, but these are the ones that I would consistently list here. The Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva also gets an honorable mention....and I've got another bottle of Temptryst Mesquite I need to crack open and review.

LOL You haven't tried it yet? I have to taste new acquisitions immediately!

Well, I've opened it and had a very small sip of it...but we were packing for the cruise and trying to get our things in order. Tomorrow night is the night I have inked in for actually sitting down and enjoying it. I can't rate anything until I get through at least 3 fingers of it. :D

I agree with you Dood, I don't generally review anything until I've got time to get to know more than the perfume of the bottle. There more than a few bottles on my to-be-tasted shelf. I prefer to taste new spirits before lunch, after a good breakfast and after I get some of the obligatory work out of the way.
After I taste a spirit for the first time, I like to taste it again a day or so later and then compare my notes. Then it's time to sit back with a few fingers of the spirit and see what I missed in previous tastings. But to really get to know a spirit takes more time (http://ministryofrum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2636&postcount=4).

My wish list would be:
Pyrat Cask 1623
Angostura 1824
Appleton 21 year
I was very curious about the Matusalem Gran Reserve, but my mom just bought me a bottle on her trip to Spain two days ago, I should have it in a few weeks, never tried it!

I agree. It's not Top 3 material, but it is very good.

Botran Solera 18yr
Santa Teresa Solera
Ron Ocumare Anejo
Plantation Barbados 91'
Mattia Volontи

Absolute top three:
El Dorado Finest Demerara 12 yo ---> incredible blend, wide flavour range
Doorly's XO ---> complex sweet rum, strong character
Mount Gay Extra Old ---> exciting "autumnal" rum
but sometimes I change my preferences :)
Our top three are:
Doorly's XO
Mount Gay X0
Angostura 1919
And forgive me for adding a surprising fourth: Ron Barcelo Imperial. Interestingly enough all but the Mount Gay can be had for under $20. Not bad...
The Ron Barcelo Imperial is really good. I haven't spent a significant time with my bottle yet though.

You can get the Angostura 1919 for under $20? I used to pay $35-40 for it and I cant even get it anymore!
