One person has died and damage is being assessed on Martinique and neighboring islands after a 7.4 earthquake occurred NNW of Martinique Nov 29th. More . . . (http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2007/11/30/2106034.htm)

Here's another report from the US Geological Survey (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/us2007kha5.php).

Holy smokes...This is the first I heard of it. I didn't have my radio on today so I missed the news. We have some rumblers here on a pretty regular basis. But this is MAJOR. Thanks for the heads up.

What a shame.....Martinique had some hurricane problems this year also.
I was thinking of taking a trip there in the late spring this year. This Island is at the top of my list to visit. I am glad there were not a lot of injuries.

7.4 is a whopper of a quake too. I don't know how many people here have been in a quake before, but the strongest I've ever been in was a 6.3 which woke everyone up and had the entire house shaking and swaying a good deal...and that means that this quake was 11 orders of magnitude stronger than that.
