We will be arriving by cruise ship in San Juan on Thursday, February 17th and wondered how to go about visiting the Barrilito Distillery. I haven't been able to find a direct link to the distillery. My husband collects rum (99 bottles from around the world) and would like to add some Barrilito, as we have heard that it is wonderful sipping rum. If someone could just point us in the right direction with the address of the distillery, we can likely find our way there when we dock.

Thanks and regards,
Suzanne

Welcome to the forums, we hope you'll stick around and introduce yourself after your trip, or even before.

To find the Barrilito facility, search for it on this site using the Search by Label Name box at the top left side of this page. The map will show you where Barrilito is located. It's about 30 minutes, depending on traffic, from the cruise ship docks. And please tell them you found them on this website. They are old friends of the Ministry of Rum.

I was in Puerto Rico last April and I unfortunately ran out of time so I could not visit their factory; however, I did contact the factory and they offered to give me a tour. The phone number is 787-785-3490, the address is "Carretera CataƱo 5 Km 1.6, Bayamon P.R." I got the information from superpagesPR.com just in case you need additional information. I'm sure you will have a great trip.

The Barrilito facility makes for a great tour. They do not distill rum so there are only aging and bottling facilities to see. It is like taking a step back in time. Everything is done the old fashioned way. Try to visit the cooperage if you can, it was closed when I was last there as the cooper was on vacation. There is also a collection of old vehicles on site worth seeing. You can only buy the rums in a three pack. They also have great t-shirts and caps for sale and also mini barrels. Enjoy your tour.
For some photos on the facility click on this link, I've just seen this page needs some work!!:-

The phone number, address and map are on the Edmundo B Fernandez Inc (http://www.ministryofrum.com/producerdetails.php?t=81) page of this site. Just search for Barrilito using the Search by Label Name in the upper left hand corner of most pages of this site. Or just search for a few letters like 'barr'.
