Hi, I'm 32, from Camridge, UK originally. I have always been a huge rum fan, a love which began when I was a barman in a small pub run by an amazing Jamaican couple. They'd go back over 2-3 times per year, and each time bring me a large bottle of Wray and Nephew overproof. A baptism by fire if ever there was one, and you can say what you want about that rum, but it made me the man I am today, and I never once suffered a hangover after drinking it (memory blackouts were a regular occurrence though). I'd never drink that now, and I've got an untouched bottle in my rum cabinet to prove it, which has been there about 6 years.
As i grew older i discovered Angustura 1919, Bacardi 8yr, Don Barcelo imperial and Mount Gay Xo, and the 1st true love of my life: Pampero aniversairo. Jesus Christ, it's like suckling on the virgin Mary's nipple. Since having a little boy 2 years ago and leaving the pub trade at the same time, my intake has reduced to about 6 glasses in 2 years, but having come on here seeking advice for alterations to a cocktail recipe that won a competition, I think it's time I gently awoke the sleeping beauty. And that can only be a good thing.
