I am making a surprise whirlwind 3 day trip to the DR on Monday. Hope to see Barcelo, Oliver & Oliver and Bermudez. Also trying to fit in the small Rum and Sugar Cane Museum in Santo Domingo. Could be lots of fun!!

We had a great but short trip to Santiago and Santo Domingo. I hope to post some photos on my site this weekend. Managed to visit Oliver & Oliver, Barcelo and Bermudez. Some interesting news from all 3. Never saw a still while there though and was told conflicting facts at one location about distillation. We even survived the craziest taxi driver ever in his green "Porsche"!! Tasted some great rums at O&O, wish we had had more time with them. Special thanks to my Slovakian friend and MoR member Pavol for being our guide and translator. Great to meet Mr.Oliver who was very knowledgeable about current rum trends and willing to help in anyway possible. Unfortunately we never had time to get to the Museum of Rum and Cane, maybe next time.

Glad to hear you had a good time, and that you survived the taxi ride. Thats saying something when an islander like yourself considers the ride scary.

Red lights meant nothing, direction of traffic meant nothing, as did lines at stop lights!! Turning lanes became passing lanes. We were in a hurry to get back from O&O but did not want to tell him that!! I drew comfort from looking sideways out of the window instead of forward!!

I look forward to learning more about your trip. I've gotten conflicting stories in the DR for years so I'm not surprised that trend continues.
