knight of the rum table

Once again I come asking my fellow rum lovers for any info they may have. It seems my search for new rums leads me down an occassional dead end. Most times the internet is a wealth of info but other times it gives just enough to tease. I came across this rum on Interwines (out of stock of course) but noticed the bottle is identical to the bottle for Ron Centenerio Commertivo Reserva from Costa Ricoa. The only hit I got when searching was a note about a tasting on cocktail.com where Gran Blason won a tasting and yes it is from Costa Rica. Does anyone know anything about this rum? Is it still around? It seems odd that the bottle is the same as the other rum.
I seem to enjoy the search for a rum as much as enjoying it after finding it. I guess it is like the thrill of the hunt as compared to the enjoyment of the feast that follows. I am please to have this forum to turn to, thank you all.

You could always be the first to review it for everyone...
:-)
I know the feeling, though. The worst is when I'm several hundred miles from home, in a place that I will probably never see again, and I see something new that catches my eye.... Will I be wasting money? Or is this an opportunity that I may never find again? Argh....

Gran Blason is the same bottle and from the same distillery. My recollection is that this is a fairly sweet rum with chocolate and vanilla overtones with a slightly smoky finish. The last bottle of Gran Blason I drank was better right after I opened it than a few months later when I finished it with friends. This is only one of the reasons I prefer not to publish tasting notes after only a few sips of a spirit but instead like to really get to know the spirit over a few weeks.

Getting to know a new rum is like getting to know a new lover. Indulge yourself, spend the night with it and in the morning you'll know if the object of your new infatuation is worth pursuing or if you should put it back on the shelf.

And much like a lover... if you abuse, you'll be punished for your actions in the morning!!!
Gran Blason... I'm glad I found this thread; my wife bought be a bar book for my birthday, and in the rum section, it made mention of this Gran Blason, and I'd never heard of it, or have I seen it. The book was written though in 1998 I think.

I thought this was the same rum as the Ron Centenario line of rums.
