Anybody ever tried any of this rum? Had a friend who busted out a bottle at a HERF a few years ago, and I remember it just being so smooth on the palate that I needed to find it. Well, now I have a bottle on the way, and have heard that maybe it is being discontinued, but I'd love to hear you all's thoughts on this rum. I searched it and didn't see any mention of it anywhere, but I easily could have missed it. Cheers!Btmup.gif

the cuban rums tend to be hard to come by for us yanks, and I think santiago you can only get in cuba, but i could be wrong

I looked for it in December when I was in Cuba. The oldest Santiago I could find was the 11 year. I also saw the HC 15 and Ron Varadero 15. I also held a bottle of Maximo but did not want to risk a marriage by bringing it home with me.

Same when I visited. Those three seem to be the relatively easy finds at the top end.
I would have been interested in trying an older offering from Caney. The Caney 7 yo (think that was it) agreed rather well with me.

Ill leave some notes on this once I get it in. Im excited about it, just wish I had taken some notes the first time I tried it a couple of years ago. I do tastings with cigars all the time, never done it so much with rum so will see how that goes.

There's a bar in London - Cubana near Waterloo, selling it. It is stunningly smooth and worth the effort to find. Desperately trying to track down a bottle for sale, which I suspect will be a damned site easier in the UK than the US.

London_Drinks_Fanatic - You should be able to buy it from Germany and ship it to the UK

maybe it is being discontinued
I don't think there's any problem.
