Hello there!
Im really glad to have found this site!
Im currently trying to make my own rum and i would like to have your opinions on my method so far (found on my blog), please feel free to email my address directly or comment on my blog.

Welcome to the forums Rumplestiltskin. You seem to be trying to reinvent the wheel here. Spend a few minutes and google Home Distillers Forum and you'll save yourself a lot of time. Molasses is a lot more than boiled down sugar cane juice. I hope it is legal to make alcohol in Ireland or you might want to reconsider putting your name and email on your blog. In many countries it is illegal to make alcohol in your home without a license which is one of the reasons you have to buy it from a store and pay taxes.

I hope it is legal to make alcohol in Ireland or you might want to reconsider putting your name and email on your blog. In many countries it is illegal to make alcohol in your home without a license which is one of the reasons you have to buy it from a store and pay taxes.
It is illegal to distill spirits in the UK without a licence, but I don't think all hobby distillers actually get one (I am not suggesting that any of you should be one of them, I'm just making an observation). Of course this law only applies to spirits, not to all alcohol, i.e. you can brew beer without a licence. I'm sure Rumplestiltskin is aware of these laws, however.
